Atlantis The Royal Dubai: Inside the $1.2 Billion Luxury Hotel on Palm Jumeirah

Atlantis The Royal Dubai: One of the World’s Most Extraordinary Luxury Hotels
Located on Dubai’s iconic Palm Jumeirah, Atlantis The Royal is one of the world’s most spectacular luxury hotels. Built with an estimated investment of approximately $1.2 billion, this architectural masterpiece features a striking arrangement of curved, stacked blocks that resemble oversized LEGO pieces. What makes it even more remarkable is the involvement of South Korea’s Ssangyong Engineering & Construction, which worked alongside Belgian construction company BESIX to bring this ambitious project to life.
After years of exploring hotels around the world, Atlantis The Royal stands out for its extraordinary architecture, lavish interiors, world-class dining, and unforgettable leisure facilities. Known as a favorite destination among luxury travelers, the hotel combines futuristic design with the beauty of the Arabian Gulf.

A Unique Architectural Landmark on Palm Jumeirah
Atlantis The Royal is located at the outer end of Palm Jumeirah, Dubai’s famous palm-shaped artificial island. The journey from Dubai International Airport takes approximately 45 minutes by car, depending on traffic. Guests can also arrange private transfers and access dedicated hotel welcome facilities at the airport.
As the hotel comes into view, its extraordinary silhouette immediately captures attention. The building consists of multiple towers formed by stacked rectangular volumes, each featuring gently curved edges and open spaces between the structures. These architectural details create a distinctive appearance while allowing light and air to move through the building.
The project presented significant engineering challenges, including the construction of its complex curved forms and a spectacular 90-meter infinity pool. The successful completion of this ambitious development is also a source of pride for Korea, thanks to Ssangyong Engineering & Construction’s contribution.

A Grand Entrance and a Water-Inspired Lobby
The luxury experience begins at the hotel entrance, where overlapping geometric structures, golden frames, and elaborate ceiling details create an impressive first impression. Sculptural installations featuring fire add another dramatic element to the arrival experience.
Inside, the enormous lobby features a striking silver sculpture called Droplets. Water is the central design inspiration throughout Atlantis The Royal, drawing on the significance of water to the Bedouin people who traveled across the Arabian Desert in search of this precious resource.
The water-inspired theme appears throughout the interior, from sculptural lighting and decorative objects to dramatic fountains and aquatic displays. Large aquariums with distinctive LED backgrounds make parts of the lobby feel like an underwater world.
One particularly unusual feature is an elevator experience surrounded by cascading water, creating the sensation of moving through a waterfall. The reception desk and lounge areas combine contemporary design with gold-toned marble floors and blue carpets that reinforce the hotel’s aquatic theme.
The public spaces also feature artistic installations, elegant boutiques, and striking architectural details that make exploring the hotel an experience in itself.
Cloud 22: An Infinity Pool with Panoramic Views
Atlantis The Royal comprises hotel accommodations and residential buildings arranged around spectacular views of Palm Jumeirah. One of its most famous attractions is Cloud 22, a rooftop infinity pool offering panoramic views of Dubai’s coastline and the surrounding architecture.
Cloud 22 is a premium pool experience, and access may require a separate fee even for hotel guests, depending on the reservation and package.
Unlike some rooftop pools where indoor lounges and outdoor swimming areas compete for space, Cloud 22 is designed primarily as an open-air pool destination, creating a spacious atmosphere. Its elevated position also makes the hotel itself a dramatic backdrop for photographs.
Guests can swim while enjoying views of Palm Jumeirah, relax beside the pool, or enjoy a cocktail at the outdoor pool bar. For those seeking greater privacy and comfort, air-conditioned cabanas are available. These private spaces provide amenities that can make an extended poolside stay more comfortable.
The combination of turquoise water, striking architecture, and sweeping island views makes Cloud 22 one of the hotel’s signature luxury experiences.

Inside the Guest Rooms: Spacious Design and Premium Amenities
Atlantis The Royal offers a wide selection of accommodations, including guest rooms, suites, and signature penthouses. The hotel has approximately 795 rooms and suites, with options designed for different travel styles and preferences.
A standard guest room can offer around 55 square meters of space, with two queen beds and a comfortable layout. Blue carpeting, gold accents, and dark wood furnishings create a sophisticated interior that complements the hotel’s water-inspired design.
One of the highlights is the private balcony overlooking Palm Jumeirah. At approximately nine square meters, the balcony offers a peaceful place to enjoy the scenery and appreciate the extraordinary scale of Dubai’s artificial island.
The attention to detail extends to the in-room amenities. Guests may find premium Frette bathrobes, pool and beach bags, slippers, and signature room fragrance products. These thoughtful touches help create a more personalized luxury experience.
The bathrooms feature elegant white marble, premium toiletries, and carefully selected accessories. Large amenities associated with the high-end jewelry brand Graff add a distinctive touch, while bottled water, including VOSS, completes the refined presentation.
Together, the spacious layout, premium furnishings, and private outdoor space make the guest rooms an important part of the Atlantis The Royal experience.
Spectacular Fountains and the Elements Bar
One of the hotel’s most memorable attractions is its spectacular fountain area beyond the main lobby. The installation combines tiered water features with a separate fountain designed for dramatic performances.
As evening approaches, lighting and water choreography transform the space into an impressive visual spectacle. Rather than simply shooting water vertically, the fountain features distinctive swirling movements that create a more dynamic effect.
At the top of the tiered fountain, Elements Bar offers a unique setting connected to the lobby. Small water features resembling candles floating on circular plates create an intimate atmosphere, while seating areas provide views of the surrounding water installations.
The bar also offers cocktails inspired by the elements. Enjoying a drink while watching the fountains at sunset is an especially appealing experience for guests seeking a memorable evening in Dubai.
Two Main Swimming Pools and a Beautiful Beach
Beyond the fountain area, Atlantis The Royal offers two major swimming pool experiences connected to its beachfront setting.
Nobu by the Beach is an adults-oriented pool and beach destination associated with the internationally renowned Nobu restaurant brand. The spacious pool, comfortable sun loungers, and stylish facilities create a relaxed environment for guests seeking a more exclusive atmosphere.
The Royal Pool, meanwhile, caters to families and includes a dedicated children’s pool. Its expansive layout makes it suitable for guests traveling with children.
Both pool areas connect to a beach stretching approximately two kilometers, allowing guests to move between the swimming pools and the Arabian Gulf.
Guests staying at Atlantis The Royal may also receive access to Aquaventure World, the water park at the neighboring Atlantis, The Palm, subject to the applicable accommodation package and access conditions. The Lost Chambers Aquarium at Atlantis, The Palm, is another popular attraction that may be included in eligible guest benefits.
